Introduction to our Senior Account Manager – Isaiah Bess

Gibson Watts brings together the finest recruitment and Executive Search professionals, and Isaiah Bess is no exception. For our next team member introduction, we’re heading stateside to find out more about our Senior Account Manager.

Having secured a significant contract, chosen as the preferred recruitment processing outsourcing, or RPO partner for a major client, we needed to recruit an individual to head up and deliver this contract - enter Isaiah Bess. Thanks to his in-depth understanding of the recruiting process and client organization from previous projects, he has quickly become a key member of our team.

To introduce our Senior Account Manager properly, we invited him to take part in one of our Q&A sessions to find out more about him and his role at Gibson Watts.

What is your role at Gibson Watts?

I am a Senior Account Manager for Gibson Watts, working alongside one of their renewable energy clients in Boston, MA.

I oversee the execution of our services to achieve clients’ desired outcomes with a focus on attracting talent, refining processes for efficiency, driving retention, and creating social media strategies.

What types of projects have you worked on since joining?

In my short tenure, I had the opportunity to work on a relocation project for our client in Boston. After meeting with their Chief of Staff, I was able to gain the requisite information needed to dig into my network and provide market information around the real estate market in the Greater Boston area. This has been done alongside successfully placing several candidates into the business and hopefully helping the team back in the UK deliver on a whole host of vacancies, acting as the lead point of contact between client and GW.

What is your background?

Prior to joining Gibson Watts, I was blessed to work for a few of the very best recruiting firms in the world! For most of my career, I have spent time working as a Consultant within the real estate & construction industry and specializing in commercial and heavy civil construction. My father has worked in civil construction for over 40+ years and being able to work on the business side of it meant a lot to me. Before my professional career, I graduated from Stonehill College in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing.

Why did you decide to join Gibson Watts?

I decided to join Gibson Watts for multiple reasons, the first being the opportunity to join a growing company that aspires to extend their reach to the United States. I take a lot of pride in being the first American hire within the company. The second reason is having the opportunity to play a part in growing a presence here in the US and having the chance to grow as a managerial figure in the future. It’s one thing to learn and grow as a professional in your career, but it’s a much more gratifying feeling helping others elevate their lives as well.

How important is sustainability to you?

Growing up in rural Maine, sustainability is very important to me. I grew up outdoors with my family and friends. It made me greatly appreciate how lucky we were to breathe clean air every day and not worry about pollution, as many other places in the world aren’t as fortunate. Being a part of an organization that works with clients who are actively trying to make the world a more sustainable place is a privilege within itself. Also, instead of driving, I take the train to work to cut down on the emissions that I produce.

How do you try and be more sustainable?

I do my best to recycle plastic water bottles and pick up any garbage that I come across. My oldest sister used to give me a hard time about these things, so I now make it a priority to be more cognizant of my surroundings.

How would you describe the company culture and environment at Gibson Watts? What do you enjoy about working for Gibson Watts?

I would describe the company culture as very progressive and forward-thinking. I enjoy the flexibility of being able to work on a hybrid schedule. From upper management to new hires, everyone has been great at making me feel like part of the team, despite being the only employee in the US!

What are your hobbies? Outside of work, what is important to you?

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with people I am close to, whether that be family, friends, or a significant other. My hobbies involve going to the movies, playing basketball, having a few drinks at a nearby bar, watching sports, being out on the lake, campfires, anything that involves spending time with the people most important to me - I try to prioritize!
